This weekend I was thrilled to be a part of the 4th Annual Palm Desert Food & Wine Festival. The festival brought together the brightest chefs from all over the country for three spectacular days in the Coachella Valley. On Sunday, I held a book signing for "Lulu Powers, Food to Flowers" and then a cooking demonstration using recipes from my book. For those unable to attend, I've included one of the recipes and pictures from the event below. Below are also some pieces inspired by my weekend in PD. Enjoy!
- 1 cup pitted and chopped dried dates
- 1 tablespoon finely diced ginger
- ½ to ¼ teaspoon cayenne
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
- juice of 1 lemon
Put all ingredients, except lemon juice, into food processor and blend until smooth. Spoon into a bowl and add lemon juice, mixing thoroughly. Serve at room temperature.
